I grew up listening to National Public Radio in the backseat of cars and around the kitchen table in my childhood home. And my first foray in journalism was at NPR. Radio can be a very intimate medium. Hearing someone’s voice can make the person come alive--and make the listener feel present--in a way it can be challenging to replicate in print.
